First Baking Biscuits
These are simple biscuits and they don’t have a lot of added sugars being made with apple juice instead. They are quite plain to eat, for adult tastes, but a good recipe for some easy baking fun in the kitchen. I love to recommend them for a first baking session with your child, as the recipe is easy to put together and extremely forgiving. They are also made without eggs.
ingredients
100g plain flour
100g wholemeal flour
1/2 teaspoon baking powder
75g butter, cut into cubes
75ml apple juice
1/4 teaspoon ground cinnamon
method
Preheat the oven to 180C fan oven. Then Line one large, or two smaller trays with baking paper. Sift the flours and baking powder into a bowl. Next add the butter and rub with your finger tips into breadcrumbs. Finally add the apple juice and bring together with your hands to form a dough.
Tip out on a floured surface and knead a little to bring it together. Then roll the dough quite thinly (3mm approx). Use cutters to cut into shapes & place on a lined tray. Bake for 15 minutes or until starting to colour. Remove from the oven and leave for 5 mins to cool, then transfer to a wire rack.
The biscuits will store well, for a few days, in an airtight container.
